I’d be interested to know whether the 218 can switch HDMI sources through the HD621, i.e. does the comms work?
Also, how would it all be set up? There is nothing in the 218 config that I can see.

Comms are comms, so yes as long as the 218 and the HD621 are in the same comms chain it will work.

It will work if you have an adapter to go from SL comms to DIN comms. The 218 does not have a DIN comms port and the HD621 does not have a SL comms port.

I use the BNC comms between the master DSP (oddly only comms in seems to do the trick) and the HD621, with SpeakerLink from 281 to the DSP's - works like a charm.
Music room: 818v3, DSP9, Linn LP12
TV room: UHD121, 218, DSP 640.2

As you say that does work great.
The OP is asking about 218 and HD621 the 218 does not have BNC comms. The only "comms" available on the unit is on the SL connections.
You can tap into the comms bus on either the SL output master connection or on the SL input connection.

Having DSP5200SE's in their signature, perhaps that option is open...
