That would be the apodising algorithm Meridian use... maybe it’s been tweaked somewhat.

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

Looks like SE already has it.

These tests had me scratching my head a bit so I'll try to write my findings as clearly as I can.

#1
I can confirm that connecting a MS200 directly to a pair of DSP5200SEs does indeed make them show OFs in the display.
This only works if sampling rate is either set to Direct or 2x in the MS200s own settings page. I configured the MS200 in Roon as "Renderer only" for this, otherwise it would would only run as regular PCM.

#2
I tried hooking my MS200 to my G65's SpeakerLink input to confirm if the output is MHR, which indeed it is not.

#3
Sadly, I could not get the same results running MS200 through my G65 via SpeakerLink. I tried with HS output on and off, running only direct mode in the G65s.
It only shows up as MHR or PCM.

I wonder where the metadata is lost in the chain, if the G65 is supposed to just run passthrough when using Direct mode. I have no calibration files loaded and tried running it with as few changes as possible.

Edit: A small prayer for a small firmware update to Meridian's current lineup of stereo and surround processors to enable support for this feature would be great, unless I am missing something critical smile

Running from the SPDIF out from a 218 does result in MQA indicated using the SPDIF in on DSP8000SE speakers. Not that it proves much really as it could already do it SpeakerLink.

I’m curious about my DSP6000.2 with electronics serial number D6K 502204/5 build on request in 2007. Will they get any software update for rendering? I want my, I want my, I want my MQA.

Not likely but 6ks with dot matrix displays are pretty sweet.

Were the 6000s officially discontinued at this point, they must have been one of the last pairs made?

The DSP6000 was last on a price list in 2006 I believe. Made by request makes these pretty special indeed

Is the new firmware actually available now? Where can I lay my restless hands on it?!

Has anyone confirmed the "renderer only" behaviour?

With Roon feeding a 218 into DSP5200SEs I'm wondering (hoping) about using Roon as the core decoder, applying room correction in Roon's DSP and then having the 218 and/or DSP5200SEs performing the final rendering?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave [Mesmo],
This was confirmed but I've not seen anything using a 218 to drive the SE yet. Are you able to test it yourself?
