Hi all,

I have some .mov video clips going back to 2009 on my Mac. They do not play well and are jittery as if at wrong speed.

Does anyone know of somebody who is Mac literate (happy to pay) who might be able to look into this for me in East Anglia?

Many thanks
Philip

Frame rate is likely to be 25fps/25Hz - Mac monitor may well be a 60Hz or multiple of. So the jitter may be frame rate conversion of 25/50Hz to 60Hz.

I don't know if you can change the Mac hardware frame rate for playback of these? 25/50/75/100Hz should help if you have those options available to you. My Macbook and ext monitor is locked down to 60Hz, so its not anything that I know how to do. I suspect if these were played through a normal TV they would playback smoothly.

Many thanks for taking the time on this.

I tried playing back on Apple TV through my TV set (not mirroring but via photos on the Apple TV).
Sadly had same result.

I will try putting some on a USB and playing that via TV somehow.

Latest QuickTime download requires Mac OS Sierra 10.12

Hi Philip

Have the files ever played correctly in the past?

Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom,

Yes they used to but at some point seem to have got corrupted. I can't pinpoint when but they played ok on older Mac operating systems some years ago.

They are all of the mountain gorillas in Rwanda which is why i'd like to keep them.
An Apple media guy on their helpline said it appears to be a content problem which stops them playing properly now.

I have tried various "repair "apps to no avail.

Best
Philip
