Deadpool has some pretty good surround effects in the action scenes.

Yes. Bohemian Rhapsody and lossless audio on disc rather than streaming compressed audio. Quite a difference.

I've been 'away' for a while & haven't been watching much in the way of films, but just recently we've enjoyed a couple of crackers:

The Breadwinner. Wonderful animated film set in Afghanistan under the Taliban. It's hard-hitting, uplifting, beautiful & positive, all at the same time. Brilliant.

A Quiet Place. A real nail-biter that keeps the running time down & the tension high. Terrific audio.

Cinema: Meridian 271, 3 x DSP640 (behind screen), 4 x DSP320 (in-ceiling), 4 x DSP3100 (surrounds), 2 x AC12 (interface). 2 x Perlisten D12s subs, Lyngdorf MP40 processor. DT 145" 2.35 AT screen. Sony VW870 projector & S-T lens, Lumagen Radiance Pro.
Lounge: Roon, NUC, Kef LS50 Wireless + 2 x REL Gibraltar-2 subs

A bit left field but..

Leave No Trace

Not an effects or sound spectacular, just a solid thought provoking film.

Cheers

I’ve just finished watching ‘The Expanse’ seasons which are now available on Prime. Good, solid sci-fi series and the best I’ve watched in very a long time. Takes a few episodes to get going then just keeps getting better and better.

Main system - Sources (Kodi-HTPC, Vero 4k, FireTV, Sat) into Trinnov Altitude 32 (8-16) (+Roon), Trinnov Amplitude 8 amp & Vivid Audio (Giya G3, V1.5) and REL Stentor III speakers. Others: F80 + Raspberry Pi and other Pi systems.

We watched Wind River last night & I thought it was terrific. I've seen Jeremy Renner in a few things over the years & thought him to be a good actor but he was just perfect in this. A great film.

I'd forgotten Bee's post but by chance we'd enjoyed Hell or High Water the night before; unaware that they were both written by the same bloke (along with Sicario). All 3 are excellent & a fine way to spend a few hours. Of the 3, I'd probably put Sicario a slightly distant 3rd, so for those of you who've only seen that one, it might give you an idea of the quality of Hell or High Water and Wind River.

I just watched Schindlers List in 4K (Physical, not streamed).

It goes without saying that this film is a masterpiece, but I have to say the 4K transfer is astonishing.

If you are sitting on the fence wondering if its worth buying again on yet another format, be assured, the 4K edition is the gold standard way of watching this film.

Just buy it!

cheers
Greg
