<rant>I've got DSP5000s and they are the best speaker I've ever owned. If Meridian wants to go mass market, they could just start mass producing these.</rant> What makes you think that Meridian wants to go mass market? First class travel is not mass market.

You are very welcome, I have to use Facebook to keep in touch and promote Artists we host. It’s the tool for the job there... Thanks for posting. Companies should only be using Facebook for duplicating content/linking back to website to reach a wider audience, not as the only exposure. Chris why don't you use a website? That’s an audience that 9x% are able to join in with. Something like Wordpress is simple to use and whilst probably won't be free, won't cost a fortune either especially if its treated as a personal site.

Ian, We do use a website and we use Facebook to drive traffic there but with Facebook our artists and attendees actively join in. Social media is fast, so a post-gig post at 3 am will reach so many more people than a considered post with beautiful photographs.Twice as many easily.
We also get so much feedback via Facebook.
Artists expect a Facebook presence and will often joint host an ‘Event’ to actively promote. It all comes down to keeping personal contact with your followers and inclusivity.
This is my experience as I consider a Facebook header for Sniff and the Tears next month...

the current headphones in the First Cabin are cheap black plastic and do not look much different to these Meridian branded ones ! if one were to "pinch" a set the connector may prove troublesome - BA use a 2 or triangular 3 pin. I recall Emirates started to offer B&W noise cancelling headphones in their first class cabin around 6 months ago but I never tried them.

What makes you think that Meridian wants to go mass market? First class travel is not mass market. BA First class, Range Rover, sure. LG? Mass market. Nothing says "oh god we need money" than a licensing deal. Perhaps there's a profitable space between LG boomboxes and 8000SEs. On the other hand, there is a profitable space for HNW folks, but they will want Atmos and 8K AVRs. This "all we do is make $80,000 speakers and out of date 7.1 surround systems without HDMI" doesn't seem like any area of the market being addressed. Meanwhile I've got seven 5000s, and I'll be getting two more for upstairs along with a Raspberry-Pi for Roon. Meridian could be making money from me. Anyway, this is all speculation. Meridian is in a tough position. I'm sure if they explained their strategy, we'd be like "oh, well that’s not a fun position to be in, but it makes sense". Or maybe they're "We just want to make 8000SEs forever". Who knows.

One of Meridian’s strengths and problems is the Made in Britain ethos. It is very noble and expensive... So “engineered in the UK” is perhaps a way out of this bind to become more profitable.

Meridian could be making money from me Meridian doesn't make any money from used equipment sales😀. Any new processor would have compatibility issues with your legacy speakers. Think $2000.00 worth of Revivers on top of going Atmos.

Anyway, this is all speculation. Meridian is in a tough position. I'm sure if they explained their strategy, we'd be like "oh, well that’s not a fun position to be in, but it makes sense". Or maybe they're "We just want to make 8000SEs forever". Who knows. There is a profitable space between 8KSE and LG products, and Meridian occupy it with a whole range of speakers and products - they don’t just make $80,000 speakers and 7.1 AVRs by any means. The fact that we here, who are heavily into, and invested in, the brand want more, and more frequently, doesn’t mean their current range isn’t valid for most consumers in the space. Not everyone wants Atmos and 8K. Meridian have an HDMI solution and their reasoning for keeping it separate has been clearly stated on the grounds of sound quality. Which current AVR would Meridian be making money on from you? Your 5Ks are legacy connections, and have been for over 10 years now. They could make money from you even if you bought, e.g., a second hand 861v4 by selling you a linear PSU and ID40 due to their excellent history of supporting their existing customers with updates for older products. I believe Meridian did explain their current strategy a year or so ago at the meeting at HQ. I wasn’t there personally, but my understanding of the gist of what was said is that, like many companies, they had to diversify a bit in order to remain profitable, but they haven’t forgotten their existing core customers and the intention is to return to them and their core products ASAP.
