Have I missed something pretty major here? I thought EBA was only for SpeakerLink models, not legacy comms/SPIF?
Cheers

Yes, I should have said legacy comms that had EBA firmware updates. Looking at the Meridian release notes ... EBA is only listed for SpeakerLink DSP’s ... I can’t find any reference to EBA for legacy DSP ... where did you see it? I think you may be mistaken but happy to be proved wrong. Regards, Carl PS I recall apodizing upsampling filters been introduced to some (those that already supported up sampling) legacy DSPs, maybe this is what your thinking of?

You are right. I thought that legacy comms 5200’s took the v2 firmware that introduced EBA. My bad.

Hi Ian,
No worries, it’s a bit of minefield and we know that Meridian documentation is often sketchy.

Nothing to do with Meridian documentation on this occasion, more to do with the old grey matter

OP - when you run MRC in your processor, is there a particular peaky resonance in the waterfall plots/frequency response curves?
Have you tried adjusting your speaker and/or listening position - these have a big impact on bass peaks and nulls - you're trying to find the position for both which is the best overall compromise.
Do you have any room treatments, particularly bass trapping, in the room? As you have noticed, the 818v3 is a big step up from the surround processor overall, but unfortunately you lose MRC and then have to start dealing with all these things without...
Lastly, what is your main source, as e.g., if you are running Roon, you can put the MRC filters manually into Roon's parametric EQ.
