So guys have this working fine.

If I want the tone controls on D2 or indeed if I wire G68 to 818 which is how Meridian told me to do it.
How can I enable them?

I get the feeling right now G68 is dealing with Tone such as bass, treble etc. etc... so nothing I do has any effect on sound from 818.
