That seems like a slightly off-beat setup. What is the scenario i.e. why would you choose to not connect it to a network?
Cheers
Tom

Speculation; it might appear obvious to some here. Possibly, like a remotely connected MC200, is it likely that I could directly connect my 210 to my Mac Mini Server (USB) for streaming to my remotely located 218 via the home network?
Not sure I'm following here, but as I understand it, the connection between 210 and 218 is SpeakerLink not network. So 210 cannot stream to a remote via home network, although it could if you were just using home network structured cabling via SpeakerLink.

It sounds like you want to use the 210 as a music server, or at least convert audio to Sooloos network protocol, which it does not I am pretty sure.

What you want is achievable if your Mac Mini was running Roon, no USB needed, and 210 would be redundant in this scenario too as Roon can stream direct to 218. But if you want to stream from Mac Mini via USB, then it’s SpeakerLink between 210 and 218. If you went Sooloos, then Mac Mini would be unnecessary too, but you would still need some form of control and rip.

Original/intended installation...

Mac Mini Server (Amarra Luxe with Asset UPNP) > home network > 210 (UPNP) > SpeakerLink > 218. Remote: iPad/Amarra Play.

Hypothetical alernative...

Mac Mini Server (Amarra Luxe) > 210 (USB) > home network > 218.

I don’t own, nor intend to utilise, Roon.

Have fun. As for Roon, don’t knock it until you have tried it.

My music collection isn’t that big in justifying the price...

Roon £400
Amarra £40

If you connect the 210 to the network, how are you expecting to get the stream to the 218? i.e. what input on the 218 are you expecting to select?

Also if you had Roon, you wouldn't need to buy the 210 which would be more cost effective.

Cheers
Tom

There are plenty of people now who use Roon with no physical library Just Tidal and or Qubuz or what ever it’s called.

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

I don’t want to pay extra for a monthly subscription fee.

Top one probably won’t work. As far as I am aware, 210 network input is RAAT (Roon) only so no upnp.

Bottom one won’t work as no home network between them.

But
Mac Mini Server (Amarra Luxe) > 210 (USB) > SpeakerLink > 218
probably would

TBH for less than half cost of 210 you can get perpetual Roon license that will probably run on your Mac mini and so will do everything you want (including home network distribution) except maybe AirPlay. And you will get frequent Roon updates which may not be so forthcoming from Meridian.

The Meridian 210 includes UPNP.
