I’ll keep my MSR+s as they just work for me and the learned function has been very handy for basic TV and DAB stations.

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

Do these have the option to have custom keys? If not, what are the options these days for a better remote? E.g. one with ‘soft’ key labels, or I suppose just a touchscreen so you can have customisable source labels, etc.?

There is nothing in the instructions regarding this, so the assumption is that there are no blank keys that can be customised and swapped in.

Perhaps it could be opened up and something made (3D printing), but a lot of effort; buy a MSR+ before the 2nd hand prices go up!

Less is more; functionality and cost respectively.

Just seen this. I'm disgusted. Especially at the rip off price.

I've always hated remote controls and rarely used them, then when I got the MSR+ with my G61R I found the form factor so easy to use. Most if not all remotes these days are wand types which are awful to use IMO. Try using them without picking them up. Impossible.

Ali.

If you thought that this was an expensive accessory when it was first introduced, it's now £300 (!).

For my main -2 channel- system I mainly use my iPhone and MacBook to select and play music. The MSR is coffee table decoration next to the nice chique books no one reads. Also, not all high end competitors have great looking remotes. Grimm for example hasn’t got one other than a wired remote. Or the Mark Levinson ones, hmmmm.

Nevertheless, I agree that for the high end M products this new remote is, compared to what we are used to, embarrassing. I wonder what accountant came up with that idea of cost saving.

Now, what is more on my mind is when can we expect news worthy new product upgrades, DSPs and streamers!
