Has anyone had experience with the Meridian Prime and Power Supply.

Did the units deliver the sound you expected?

What headphone(s) did you use?

How long was the audition or ownership?

Do you believe the units are worth what you paid for them?

Would you purchase the units again?

Thanks in advance for your feedback, JS

I've been using them with Sennheiser HD 800's for about two years, and have been very happy with them. Very natural sound. I would absolutely buy them again, with the proviso that I'd like to hear the Pass Labs headphone amp before committing. I'm a fan of Pass Labs from hearing their stuff, but haven't owned anything from them.

Good luck with your decision

#1 Yes, using analogue out from 808v6 so no MQA light but assured of MQA performance. ASP 0 setting gives a well balanced presentation. ASP 1 and ASP 2 tend to push soloist (both instrumental and vocal to the fore) however some recordings benefit from these settings, some don't. Conclusion ASP is a nice to have.

#2 I have owned Grado Statement Range GS 1000 for approx 5 years purchased new. Also Grado GR10 earbuds. Both Grado products are easily and satisfyingly driven by the Prime Combo, they are both very comfortable for long periods of use.

#3 2 Years +

#4 Yes, still very satisfied with the price paid.

#5 Difficult question but Yes is my answer today. In future years I would look at available alternatives and available funds, audition / compare and decide. I don't think I will be in the market for replacements anytime soon, unless I win the lottery, tempus fugit.

Yes have been using the Prime and PS for 18 months or so now and have been very satisfied with the combination.

I also use the PS to power an AC200, so its a neat setup, and great form factor.

I use Sennheiser HD700 cans, and have been very pleased with the overall sound and performance with different styles of music, as listen to rock, folk, americana, indie and classical at times.

Would definitely purchase again, but like anything to do with technology would take the opportunity to audition if possible against alternatives in the same price bracket.

As i purchased the units from a fellow HHer, the deal was pretty good, albeit i believe there are deals on new kit out there now at a similar level.

hope this helps

Viruskiller wrote an extensive review of the Prime and PS a while back, worth searching to find it.

+1 on VK's Prime and Prime PS reviews. They are comprehensive, objective, and provided the information regarding MQA I needed to confidently make my purchase.
