The problem is Roon does not support Rhapsody/Napster & I have loads of music not in Tidal. For this reason I haven't updated to Catalina as Control:Mac still works in Yosemite if your quick, this is because it keeps freezing & needs closing down & reopening but you can get the job done. I fear if I have Catalina it will be gone.
Run Bootcamp on your Mac and install Windows 10 which is free to download and will run without having a licence key so you can test if it works that way you can update to Catalina and use Control:PC on your Windows partition for accessing Sooloos. Setting up a Windows partition using Bootcamp is very straightforward and nothing to be feared.
They effectively abandoned all users, it just hasn't had an impact on Windows users yet!
I must admit, given it wasn't that long ago they were still selling Sooloos hardware, it seems a pity they dropped it. I think the issue was that the next version of Sooloos (renamed Roon) was never designed to run on legacy hardware and there's no money in continuing to support Sooloos.

It was always the intention that, whilst under the Meridian fold, next generation Sooloos core could run on current Meridian hardware - MC200/MC600/MD600, albeit some with hardware updates - more RAM. However, it was clear that NUC was the future direction for turnkey. I suspect the moment Roon came into fruition, removing the technical debt of Sooloos compatibility was very beneficial. The rest is history.

Many thanks for the reply Ratbert. Problem is I have all my CD's on iTunes as a backup so may not have hard disc space for Boot camp. If I go to Roon will that mean I no longer need iTunes as a backup so can delete all albums from iTunes? Sorry if this is obvious.
Sooloos was on terminal life-support the moment Roon branched-out from Meridian.
Arguably, the emergence of Roon to a wider audience is all the better for it.
While one might well lament the demise of conventional Meridian products of old, by comparison, the 200 series are cheaper to replace should anything go wrong.
Also, I really like being able to hide them away and for them being out of sight.

I respectfully disagree that Roon is better for being platform agnostic. Sooloos was a more focussed and easier to use program. If you use the Apple/Windows analogy, I think Roon suffers by trying to be all things to all people.
My concern is that each of these developments point Meridian in a different and uncertain direction. I agree the the 200 series products make sense to existing users but companies need halo products to attract new customers and maintain interest in the brand.
