Technically it's hard to comment on without knowing the hardware and software implementation.

Though from a purely functional point of view I think concurrent support both RAAT and Sooloos protocols might be tricky, but having a configuration to enable one over the other would be the way to overcome.

Interesting times ahead, let's see once one of us gets their hands on a unit.

Regards,
Carl

PS Of course alternatively Meridian could update the their existing devices and migrate them to support RAAT (and potentially remove the 96K limit while they at it) ... now that would be a win-win for all of us.

Bruce was kind enough to invite me to join him at CEDIA Thursday. I stopped by the Meridian booth and talked with Hugo for a few minutes. He told be the only remaining hold up on the 210 is Apple approval as Bruce said. He also told me the same things we saw in the video.

I asked him if the 210 was limited to 96KHz and he confirmed that it was. He didn't mention Sooloos and I didn't think to ask him about it. Since he didn't mention it in the video or our fairly detailed discussion about the 210 I'd have to guess it doesn't support Sooloos. Hope I'm wrong.

That's a really big miss, as many potential users have >96k files ... SpeakerLink is capable of at least 192KHz ... and so is the 8x8 USB input... It's hard to fathom M sometimes.

It supports Sooloos and Roon. I asked that specific question.

Presumably the support of Sooloos is what's behind the 96 KHz limit again. It really is leaving them behind in the DAC race.

Especially with DAC’s in Audiolab, Quad, (24/384) and Rotel (32/768) - and TEAC (MQA) can upsample to 32/784.

It’s not a DAC is it?

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

The question might be whether Roon is supported because Roon supports the Sooloos protocol rather than because the 210 uses RAAT...

I’d also like to ask Bruce if he held a RAAT-using 818v4 in his hands too. Or even asked about it.
