Couldn't agree more. Somebody (can't remember who) came up with the great phrase; "Why use one word when none will do?".

It was Gordon (as noted above). He was in the neighbourhood doing my mate’s screen. I can’t remember what I paid. Guessing it was a couple of hundred but IMHO worth every penny. Worth every penny! It made such a difference. Gordon's been to the Isle of Man too I came across Gordon at Convergent AV after Shaun mentioned him on here a while ago. I contacted him recently re some (black) cinema wall coverings & ended up (yesterday) buying a Lumagen Pro 4242 scaler & I'm looking forward to Gordon visiting us to install / configure it & to calibrate the PJ once we've moved out to France. That's service!

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

Hmm. Any thoughts on the Samsung QE75Q7F (as the price of this is now sub £4k)? Presumably the same product family as Jon bought originally? Would be a replacement for my projector (82" screen) if I can get it into the basement; and I'd need to feed it from my Lumagen XD.

Another quite serious possibility would be the (considerably cheaper) Samsung UE75MU8000. I know this is an LED TV, but it would be going into a cave. What are the main disadvantages? Obviously blacks won't be as black as on the QLED. I note that this model has a 10 year screen burn warranty.
In terms of picture quality, I'm looking for something comparable to my aging JVC HD-1 projector. The primary reason for a change would be elimination of projector fan noise.

That Vantablack would be ideal but may run over budget!
VK; I'd have thought that pretty much any modern TV would better an old PJ in terms of PQ & if you were "only" running an 82" screen then it would be a win-win. There are quite a few 75" sets out there that would pretty much give you the square-footage that you're used to.
In fact, I've just dug out an old copy of Home Cinema Choice (Sept 2017) where they test 4 premium sets; 3 OLEDs (LG 65" W7, £8,000 / Loewe Bild 7.65, £6,500 / Panasonic TX-65EZ1002, £6,000) against Sony's larger LCD (75" XE9405, £4,900) & they found the Sony to be the winner.
Presumably any still knocking around could be found for less than the prices quoted, too.

Hmm. Any thoughts on the Samsung QE75Q7F (as the price of this is now sub £4k)? If you can wait until the current price subsides I would buy the 75Q9FN. I saw one last week. The picture is the most ‘OLED’ like you’ll ever find.
