That's really interesting. I have an early generation LG OLED which delights on a daily basis, so I'm interested to hear where you find the pros and cons lie between each? I'm not currently in the market, but intrigued as OLED is so often held up as the gold standard display technology. Also wondering how they compare with olde worlde 1080 24p sources like Bluray? (I have no UHD inclinations at present!)
One thing to do with OLED, which goes against the grain of nearly every review and calibrator, in the UK anyway, is turn the OLED backlight up to around 95 and then turn the contrast to around 60-65. Most do it the other way round, so OLED light on 40ish and contrast on 85 or something. The problem with that is the brightness limiter kicks in too quickly, so get a scene of snow and it no longer pops.
So set it for one of the ISF modes and then try the above.

Definitely good advice. I also found the default white balance way too warm. Looked very odd.
Id have a google for 'optimum tv settings' for the model number of your tv. Normally something comes up on avforums. Then use that as a starting point.
Or buy a calibrator, but that could be another rabbit warren......!
I have no doubt that the OLED isn’t a cabable machine but not straight out of the box as the QLED was, It certainly doesn’t “pop” like the Samsung but some could say it looks a little fake whereas the LG is more natural. Now this could be the source material that I’m using ie skyq,Netflix and prime, looks like it’s in need of a professional calibrator.....any recommendations for the Cambridgeshire area.

Thanks for posting those Russ, I’ve seen similar darted all over the net and didn’t really pay attention thinking each has a different viewing experience, maybe I should check if any 2018 C8 settings have appeared on AVforums yet.

I had my Pio Kuro 50” ISF calibrated a few years ago. When that screen finally dies I will get whatever the next screen is calibrated as well. I thought I had tweaked it myself ok but I was embarrassed to see just how far off I was.
Would be good to know if the latest OLED screens can be calibrated in the same way to yield similar results.
