I finally have a 218 zone controller and am delighted with its performance over my network. The 218 lives in my Zone 1 (see below) and there is a QNAP TS251+ connected to the network.
The TS251+ has a few recordings installed that play out beautifully through the Zone 1 setup but I am unable to import music using Control:PC or any other method. What music I have was installed a year ago. Otherwise I have as follows:
1. Sooloos Configuration Tool (version 2.527) installed. Alarmingly this tool tells me I have non-Sooloos storage connected!!! 2. The Meridian video to guide me through setting up the QNAP 3. Control:PC (Version 2.527) 4. QNAP NAS TS251+ with operating system 4.3.3.0396 5. Sooloos 2.527 installed (and reinstalled) on the QNAP 6. 218 zone controller 7. A tool telling me I have no IP conflicts
I bought the QNAP over one year ago and have been tied up with other matters in between. I anticipated that Meridian would have made changes to and improved firmware/software compatibility over the year but I do not know this to be the case.
Can anyone help dig me out of this mire and suggest (a) where I should look to get things working and (b) what versions of firmware are critical to operation.

First question, do you want to run Sooloos core on the QNAP or just use the QNAP for storage? The Sooloos app is only required if you want to run core.
The fact Sooloos is reporting non Sooloos storage tends to suggest you already have the QNAP setup for storage.

That’s not correct, the Sooloos QNAP package must be running on the NAS even if only storage is required. (I suspect you’re thinking of Roon rather that Sooloos.)

Many thanks for the responses. Here, hopefully, are answers to questions
1. I have purchased a 218 and being exceedingly busy, did not know of any ability to run Roon which would be an additional and ongoing cost.
2. I am using a QNAP TS251+ drive, to run Sooloos and have lately succeeded in importing content. The QNAP is not only for storage. Imports have been successful using dBpoweramp to a PC folder followed by copying into the QNAP drive. A good way of describing the setup is that I follow the Meridian video. This is linked from the downloadable Meridian Sooloos Control:Web/Mac/PC User Guide.
3. I have the Sooloos 2.527 app installed using the Sooloos_QNAP_QTS_4.3.x.qpkg package also installed as specified by Meridian in their instructional video.
4. When I previously imported music into the QNAP drive I was advised to roll back the QNAP OS to version 4.2.3 build 20170213. Currently the QNAP is running 4.3.3.0396. I can of course repeat the roll back but thought that with over a year elapsed there would have been more version changes supporting firmware/software integration. This forum has to be a good way of building on others' experiences.
5. The import CD button in ControlPC causes the DVD/CD drive to run for about 4 minutes and then it stops. No material is imported, there is no dialogue box and there is no request to specify a destination folder. If I try to import a folder containing downloaded high res material, with no use of dBpoweramp, there is no response.
6. I now have been successful in importing files and cover art (no folder) using dBpoweramp. Hence I am making progress but would like most of all to know that I have the correct firmware versions for QNAP and Sooloos.

Hello, I am now having near complete success and sit here awaiting another CD to be processed by dBpoweramp. Sooloos 2.535 is installed on a QNAP with OS 4.3.3.0404.
Does anyone know if there is any point in running other than the latest version of the QNAP OS.
One of my more infantile mistakes was not noticing that Google Chrome is not supported by Sooloos. That was why I got continual demands for Flashplayer. However and much more seriously I found an HTML file installed by Mozilla Firefox blocking Flashplayer. There were 84 instances of the word Flashplayer all with an associated exclude command.
The Meridian installation help makes useful note of many problems arising from IP address conflicts. This is entirely true and I found much benefit from a phone based tool known as Fing (available from the Play store). This analyses a network, usually the local one and lists devices by MAC address along with IP address and device manufacturer.
