Little Steven. aka Miami Steve; Steve Van Zandt. Also known as Springsteen's guitarist & from his role in The Sopranos. We bought tickets for his gig in Rome tonight based on knowing him from The E Street Band then decided we'd better get to know some of his solo stuff. Got Soulfire (his new one) & Greatest Hits CDs & over the last 2 weeks or so have really got into his stuff. Some of it is just wonderful. Then just now I went online to get the address of the venue (as it isn't clear from the tickets) & see that the gig's been cancelled! Good job I checked as we were about to head off. No email or anything from the organisers; typical Italian efficiency... Disappointing doesn't begin to cover it. He's a fantastic song-writer though.

I have seen Sam Lewis a few times on the road. The last time we spoke he talked about playing Red Headed Stranger over and over as an influence for song writing. Sam Lewis You Tube clip Great stuff. Chris
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

Sorry for sounding dumb, how do you know what is part of that series?
I have been sent so much stuff that is Untitled and Unknown Artist over the years when it comes to electronic music.
No Darling, I've had it months!

it would come down to sourcing the correct artist/album and then filing it accordingly in your library. i've created a separate playlist for this series.

Heard about Korean jazz singer Youn Sun Nah while reading a Dutch review of the Meridian 857.Tidal carries five of her albums. She has a remarkable and different style. The backing musicians complement and contrast well with her singing. And the albums I have listened to so far, "So I Am..." and "Light for the People", are well recorded. Interested in other's thoughts...

Zeal & Ardor's Devil Is Fine.
Amazing stuff.

Absolutely great thread. Thanks all.
Some of my favorites that have not been mentioned:
Melody Gardot. Stunning female jazz vocalist. Try Worrisome Heart album
Bering Strait. Amazingly talented group. Listen first and then try to guess where they are from.
Mighty Sam McClean. Great Bluesman
Niels Lofgren track Keith Don't Go. Masterful guitar

John Zorn can be a challenging listen - screaming tortured saxophone, trash jazz metal, the beauty and terrifying horror of "Kristallnacht", etc.
For those interested, Tidal currently has available for streaming:
"Lucifer: Book of Angels Volume 10" Excellent musicianship, elegant and enjoyable melodies and great sound quality.
"Mycale: Book of Angels Volume 13" A capella kletzmer? Yiddish scat? Chipmunks singing chants by Hildegard of Bingen? Give it a try.
"Six Litanies for Heliogabalus". The third of his Moonchild series. Beware, very Marmite.
Enjoy. Or not.
