Is anyone else finding that the track order of a number of MQA operas seems to have been randomised. One example is the Pavarotti/Sutherland Rigoletto but I have found several others this morning.

MC200, Twinstore, 808v6/ID41 -> DSP8000SE (+ SB Touch, Sony BDP-3300, SKYHD, legacy cassette player)
2nd system: MC200 analogue out, Linn LP12, SB3 -> Quad 34 -> M60 rosewood

Nothing to do with MQA, nor opera, just Tidal is a buggy mess sometimes... I found a lot of albums like that, especially newer ones. They seem to have some systemic problem with tracks.

Ok thanks. It’s just that I have loaded a couple hundred Tidal albums and haven’t noticed this particular issue till today when I found it on maybe half a dozen operas. They probably are more recently loaded ones.

I’ve been looking into this a bit more. For me it definitely seems to be mainly opera where the track order is jumbled. However the jumbling is only on Tidal played through Sooloos. The track order is correct for the same works on the Tidal desktop app and the Tidal iOS app. So it seems that Sooloos is misreading something somewhere and not playing nicely with Tidal. It’s a frustration for me as I’d like to listen to these MQA operas on Sooloos, and they are unlistenable in Sooloos as it stands.

So my questions are:

1. Is there anything we can do to persuade Meridian and/or Tidal to fix this?

2. Does anyone know if these opears play in the correct order on Roon, as I might be tempted to take the plunge?

Examples are: the Bartoli Norma, the Mehta Turandot, the Giulini Don Giovanni, the Karajan Rosenkavalier, all MQA.

It's a pain to do, but you can manually reorder the tracks in jumbled albums so that the play in correct order. Edit the album with Control:PC/Mac and change the track numbers appropriately.

Hi there,

I mostly use the phone app or laptop Control:PC, where it’s simplest to create a playlist in TIDAL and select the playlist for queuing. Using this method, I do not get a jumbled track list for these opera. However, if I import the actual album into My Library, I have encountered the same issue. For now, whenever one of these drops, I create a playlist in TIDAL rather than importing it.

Hope this helps /bt

This one might have not been mentioned before: Istvan Kertesz and the LSO did a classic set of Dvorak works for Decca, which signature Decca hi-fi sound, outstanding for its time. Its now in MQA and sounding as if it was recording yesterday. Have a go and enjoy here.

Best /bt

Have you found a specific pattern to the mixup? That might help fixing it.

For example, when I last used Sooloos I found that importing double CD’s was screwed. Tracks from CD would be listed as CD1 if CD 1 and 2 had differing track counts. This was despite perfect meta data going into the import. No idea if that was ever fixed but I guarantee that many of you with Sooloos will have this issue and may never have noticed it. I only found it when I started trying to match albums in Roon.

So, worth checking if the muddle has a pattern like this.

Re jumbled Tidal albums in Sooloos, yes I think it’s related to multi CD albums (although why that should be relevant for MQA masters escapes me). Anyway, I’m using the playlist trick which works well. Thanks to all who answered.

I just asked TIDAL why the MQA of Sinatra's (wonderful) Watertown is no longer available (in the UK), only weeks after appearing in the Masters list.

So annoying.

That’s very annoying.

It’s been wonderful to get so many Sinatra albums in MQA, and mostly the sound’s been great. The exception so far has been the mono version of Come Fly With Me (I don’t think a stereo cut is MQA ready yet) which is very bright and thin sounding. I compared it to the vanilla remaster which sounded a lot smoother and better balanced.

The disappearing Tidal albums problem is not limited to MQA issues.
As an example two albums from Amber Rubarth, "Scribbled Folk Symphonies" and "Sessions From The 17th Ward" (previously blue starred as favourites) are no longer available in Tidal UK.

Disappointing, I suppose I will have to buy them!

Are these albums still available on Tidal US?
