I ordered a pair of DSP5200s almost 6 weeks ago, which were promised to arrive at my dealer today. Guess what, they didn't arrive.
Is it just me or does this seem like a long time to wait? Who else has ordered these speakers and how long have you had to wait?
The thing that hacks me off the most is that Meridian promised that I'd have them before the Easter weekend and they have gone back on that.
Not great service.
Buyers beware, if you want something to arrive quickly after you've ordered I wouldn't buy Meridian!

I unfortunately ordered something right before Xmas, and Meridian EU closes down for two weeks, so my order wasn't really received until the 2nd week of january. THEN, the entire next week they were doing inventory, so my order didn't get processed until mid-January - literally 4 weeks after I ordered it. I finally received the thing 3 weeks later, which was 7 weeks total.
I'd guess you'll be seeing them very soon. hang in there, it's worth it!
You are correct, they need to have better communication with their dealer(s) and customers, especially when spening this kind of money...

Sounding like M's defence lawyer here....
You have to consider here that the 5200's are still new and with all new product launches, you never quite know what demand will actually be once you have finished priming the dealers shop demo needs.
FWIW I ordered my last item on a Wednesday and received on the Friday same week. So, apart from the obvious differences in model and relative time from launch, you can't really make generalised sweeping statements like "Buyers beware ......."
If you hit the Xmas shutdown at the wrong time, that can be frustrating but such is life...xmas does that every year. Just be greatful M are French....they be out for the whole of August too ;-)
Don't let it spoil the enjoyment of your new toys.
Cheers
Nick

I got an e-mail from Bob Stewart this morning apologising for the delay saying the following:
"We have been working round the clock to satisfy orders and we did have some delays at our cabinet makers due to pressure of demand."
Was good of them to let me know and just shows that they are reading this forum!
I know I'll be happy once the kit has arrived - I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. I was just feeling a bit let let down yesterday as I'm sure all can understand.
I'm not the most patient customer in the world!

dh: What about Bob Stuart? ![[Linked Image from softronix.com]](http://www.softronix.com/ubb/wink.gif) Yes, they (M) do read the forum, and they have been knwon to e-mail hitchhiker's directly with answers from time to time. As unuusal as this sounds, it's a "good problem" for Meridian to have. I've been told that demand for DSP5200 has exceeded their most optimistic projections. Cheers,

It seems not uncommon for Bob S to contact customers via this forum, and I think it is this level of personal commitment from the very top that cascades throughout the M team.
It was probably this very weekend last year that Bob was kindly mailing me directly with support to try and resolve my early problems with HDMI etc.
Not sure I'd see my CEO doing that.
It goes a long way...

ncpl: Are you on the take from Meridian? It seems like every time somebody relates their bad experience with Meridian, you come out swinging in their support. Truth is, whether you want to believe it or not, some customers have had bad experiences with Meridian customer support. And, for what they charge for their products, virtually all customers should be treated equally well.
If the Meridian people actually read the posts in this forum, then, why is their customer support not consistently good? If some customers have had good experiences and others have had bad experiences, why is that so? Could it be that they (Meridian)have a company creed that says, treat customers of certain nationality or identity better than others?
A couple of years ago, there was a post by a Microsoft Employee who owned a set of Meridian 800 series. After a series of dissapointment with customer support, he was disgusted enough to offer the items for sale. Now, if I were the CEO of a company that had such a customer, I will make sure that necessary changes were made to the company's customer support approach to prevent such things from happening again.

The support in the uk is always very good I have never had to use the Meridian america support maybe this is the issue as most of the bad posts seem to come from over the water.
us guys in the UK have access to Edd, Des and Boris and I have never had any issues with the advice given. I have even left messages and got an answer which most other companys would have just not bothered. I rarly have seen good comments about the US support guys.
I think maybe it just depends who you get in the end.

I agree, we do have brilliant customer support here at M. in the UK you couldn`t get better.
Sometimes the guys at M`s customer support are very busy especially when they have a show coming up or a new product launch, but they always get back to you in the end.
Edd, Des, Dave, Russell, Warren and Boris are all brilliant although I thought Boris had left the company recently.
Even if you have a problem after the warranty as expired M. really look after you.
Looking forward to getting my 861 and 800 DVD player.

Wow!! Interesting response Pure-Audio. What would provoke you dig out a thread from 6 months ago and suggest that I am "on the take from Meridian". Not much to do today ?
I don't know whether to laugh at you or take offence...OK , I've decided.
FWIW, all Meridian users (on this forum) have issues from time to time. Some bleat about it on here, making insulting comments about people they know nothing about; others just pick up the phone, engage in civil conversation with the people that can help and get on with it. I know which camp I am in.
Based on your previous 4 posts (during which I was offering you some setup support, but seemed to have offended you in the process), it seems clear which you are in.
Apologies if English is not your first langauage and you have misunderstood, but, nowhere in my post above did I suggest that no-one has ever experienced a event of bad customer service from Meridian. I have but I have dealt with it and it has always been a satisfactory solution.
Now, this will really tick you off......My G68 developed a fault last week and had to go back to base for a new DSP board. The "idiots" and "morons" returned my G68 in 5 working days.
There I go again eh ?
Cheers !!
PS:- Bob, please send the cheque to the usual address, Thanks
Rgds, Nick
