My 561 has been in storage for a few years. I recently hooked it up in my bedroom but can't get the legacy config program to talk with the unit. It connects, claims the port, the display shows receiving but stalls out and goes back into standby. I've seen several posts with the same problem but no solutions.

I'm using a USB to NULL modem cord that works on my G68. Also tried other cords that worked on my previous 568. Manual does show how to reassign inputs without a computer.

The unit is running 1.7 firmware. Is that the latest? If not, can anyone send it to me to see if upgrading will help. Although, I'm not sure it can be upgraded if the ports aren't talking.

Have you tried re-type-ing it? Ie factory reset to a known configuration relevent to your setup.

Yeah, I've retyped it a few times. Set it up so it works via the front panel but frustrated that I can't fine tune the speakers or reassign inputs. Have optical going into 01 laser disc input. Also have 562.v2 that want to use for other opticals. Very familiar with configuration and quirks via other Meridian processors I've owned. Other posts with similar problems asked about a bad board (which wouldn't be worth replacing). But I didn't see any posts which really seemed to answer the question.
