Could anyone point me to where I might find the right USB drivers to run my v1 explorer DAC please. Cannot find them on the Meridian site.

Hi Simon,

Have you tried this The Explorer 2 page on M's site?

There's a "Windows driver v3.34.1 with instructions.zip" download link, this driver will work for the original Explorer as well (also the 8x8, 218, UltraDAC, Prime, Direct, ...)

If it's for a Mac then I don't believe it needs any additional drivers as Mac's support it natively.

Regards,
Carl

EDIT: Adjusted URL to match Meridian's website changes.

I cant seem to find them either. Seems they pulled them from the site and only offer Explorer 2 drivers.

I don't think you need specific V1 drivers. IIRC that Audio USB-DACS that are a certain class simply need a driver for that class and not specific to the hardware. I think Explorer 1,2 and Prime are all the same Class 2.0.

Meridian don't have 'Explorer 2 only' drivers

The current release is a package (windows-driver-v3341-with-instructions.zip) that contains the driver which can recognise the following USB connected products / id's:

Meridian ID28 USB input
Meridian Explorer USB DAC
Meridian Director DAC
Meridian Prime Headphone Amplifier (MQA)
Meridian ID29 USB input
Meridian Translator
Meridian Prime Headphone Amplifier
Meridian Explorer² USB DAC
Meridian Direct DAC
Meridian S80
Meridian IE50 USB input
Meridian USB input
Meridian Direct DAC (MQA)
Meridian Explorer² USB DAC

- So this is the correct driver for Explorer 1 and 2

Matt.
