Does the MQA CD industry really exist or is it just a figment of our combined imaginations?
I will buy tomorrow if something that I really want is available, but I am probably in a very small minority group.

TBH Bruce, I wouldn't trust that to guarantee bit perfect (unless you know otherwise).

When I had a C10 on lone (before I had my C15) it was connected via SPDIF to my 861. I tested it with a ripped DTS encoded CD (16/44) and the 861 detected and decode it just fine. This to me indicates bit perfect output.
So providing the output setting on the C10 are correct it should output a bit perfect signal.
I agree with Joel, and it was my assumption that the 218 would be able to MQA decode it digital inputs.
It would be fantastic if Meridian would clarify.

@Bruce. Did the MQA light come on on the 218?

That's bad. I will try and confirm this evening. If so, I think it's a plain bug.
There are several future MQA use cases which will not involve the Sooloos input (MQA CD and live streaming via TV, Internet, etc.), so it's critical that these inputs are MQA-supported.

Interestingly on the 218 I was testing with, I could never get the D1 input to work when CD is selected. It works fine when D1 is assigned to any other source key.

Does the MQA CD industry really exist or is it just a figment of our combined imaginations? I assume that getting a MQA CD proof of concept working was required for the Japanese and perhaps German audio markets. It probably will have much less impact outside of those markets than say, the HDAD format. Than again the Grateful Dead record label still releases their CD's with the HDCD processing... Has Cornell '77 been MQA'ized and released on TIDAL?

No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

I'd like to play MQA in my car one day. I guess CDs and a 12 volt 218 would be one way of doing it. If the digital input decoded. 😀

I've just tested my 218 with the SpeakerLink and optical outputs from an MS200 (set to Direct). I used a CO2 optical to coax converter to get a coax SPDIF output.
With *all* of the 218's digital inputs (Sooloos network, SpeakerLink, coax, optical), I get the blue MQA light and MQA.96k on my SEs.
I have:
Software version: 1.0, build 185 Co-processor version: 0.3 Hardware version: 0.5
Bruce, please would you verify your 218 versions?
