I have that installed it on my iPhone, but it is asking for the address of the core?

Do I need a core on the PC? I have used the 218 IP but that doesn't work.

You do need core on a Computer. It will see the 218 as an endpoint. You need the computer IP address. You might have a problem with firewall or fixed vs dynamic IP address assignment setup issues. Someone more computer savvy than I will correct/be more specific if you need further help. How ar you connecting audio from the TV-optical?

Ok thanks hopefully someone can guide me.

I have a Windows PC which has Roon installed, and the library of music on it.

The 218 connected via RCA to the G57.

The TV is wired to the optical input.

Everything is connected to a gigabit network switch and via a Sky router none of the IP addresses are reserved on it.

Update: I have been advised about the IP control app now so I can change the source, by I don't get why it is only available on iPad as that limits the control devices

You can try an MSR+ to switch sources.

The sources can be configured in a web browser (e.g.. Firefox, Safari) by typing the IP adddress in the address field then hit enter. This may work, but might only be appropriate for the IP app, worth a try.

OK, 218 up and running but!

Direct Digital in from CD Player is perfect & SQ very promising.
However, 192kHz on digital input from network player (fed by iMac-Roon) is suffering from intermittent "dropouts" at irregular intervals.
I am starting to think that the network connection is dropping (I feel a Wireshark session coming on 🤔).

Also, I don't appear to be able to setup the 218 as a Roon endpoint. Roon zone control indicates a broken link (when specifying IP address in setup)! Network scan + individual pings suggest that network connections (Ethernet) are good?
Roon is detecting the 218 as "HQplayer," when I tried using "localhost" setup but, when trying to play anything I get error message "transport couldn't connect to HQPlayer"!

I still have a couple of things to try but any thoughts/suggestions would be welcome.

TIA

Hi

How is the 218 connected, are you using direct Ethernet connections rather than wireless adapters?

Hi Russ,

All Ethernet, wireless only for control via iPad.

Finally sorted the Roon endpoint problem (which appeared, magically).
Just the dropouts/leads to sort! Progress.

Paul.

Do you know if the ac200 remote will work on the 218, as that would be a nice discrete remote to use, as you have a ac200?

It could be done, I think, but you would need an additional IR adapter (Meridian sell one) to receive the commands from the ac200 remote.
It would depend on your configuration of the 218 as well (done via a web browser). I.P. switching works well on an iPad including some functionality with Roon as well, however, I tried using the MSR+ which will switch to, for example Roon, but doesn't start play (Not a major issue), the ease of control with the app just make everything far more intuitive.

Such is the effectiveness & flexibility of the 218 & App that there might be an AC200 in the restaurant soon. 🤔

Hi,

How many people have simply stuck the analog outputs into their amp and driven their passive speakers with the 218? (So using Sooloos and / or tidal as a source? So no DSP's, processors, or other noise? If.you have, impressions? Agreed that it's as good as an ms600, better than MS200? Anything else to add?

Thank you
