And, impressions please.....
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

I'm using it as a Sooloos endpoint, between a C15 and DSP8000SE's (upgraded, not original), where I used to have an 818v3. Unless you need the extra inputs, I'm not sure there's a sonic reason to go with an 818 over the 218.

How do you configure it? I do not see any updates the Configuration Program, the 218 is not there as a Controller, is that not needed?

The 218 is an endpoint, not a controller. You can configure it multiple ways according to the user guide, including using the IP Controller App on an iPad. I configured it by typing the unit's system address (which I got from the C15) into the address bar of my laptop's web browser, which brought up the configuration menu.

Perhaps a screenshot of config menu may be of interest

Thanks, Cleop - I see that the User Guide is also on the M website now...

Config looks to be straight forward, exactly like my MS200...

My 218 arrived on Friday. The digital input directly above the toslink input is an RCA plug. Thanks for confirming. Stretches credulity that M can't even get this sort of thing right.

Hi,
The FAQ (on the 218 support pages) suggests that performance lies "somewhere between the MS200 and the MS600".

Right, and so does the price point. I owned both at the same time and, at least on the digital, side I couldn't tell the difference. Maybe my system or me? Possibly. OTOH, upgrading my 818 from v2 to v3 was noticeable.

Is their FAQ referring to the analogue outputs or the digital outputs?
I'm slightly worried that M can't surpass the digital performance of the MS600 given the number of years between the design of the two.
Time will tell. Have any been seen in the wild in the UK yet?
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.
