I just took up Nick's offer at trying my Prime PSU at his place.
Well his Prime PSU was silent (feintest of hums if I put my ear to the metal case) and mine was not. Even when powered through his AC/AC regenerator (ie better than a DC filter) and > meter+ away.
As others have stated, no reason why my Prime PSU should be not be equally silent. My first one seemed even louder.
Meridian owner since 1992 Prime & PSU, Focal Elear headphones, Roon (ROCK 8Gi5 NUC), Explorer 1 & 2, F80. 200/203, various Sonos (via Roon).
That's two defective units, maybe a supply or production issue? I would want confirmation the third one was perfect before having it sent to me. I would trust Des as you say.
It's Meridian's new green policy to prevent people leaving stuff on 24/7.
Main system - Sources (Kodi-HTPC, Vero 4k, FireTV, Sat) into Trinnov Altitude 32 (8-16) (+Roon), Trinnov Amplitude 8 amp & Vivid Audio (Giya G3, V1.5) and REL Stentor III speakers. Others: F80 + Raspberry Pi and other Pi systems.

The Hum bug appears to be growing in strength, however my system is as yet not infected. With all "noisy" devices (including MD600's) and domestic appliances turned off I cannot detect any discernible Hmmmmmmm... from Prime + PS or 5200SE speakers.
