Thing are progressing well with an exception. The last 5K that I purchased for center usage seems to have a blown upper woofer. Any information on who to remote the speaker and sources for suitable replacements? I removed the surrounding Allen screws and could not manage to get the woofer to come out. Does it have to be removed some other way?

No, but may need a bit of force after all these years.

They are usually adhered to the gasket. I usually use a small allen key inserted into the screw hole on the elbow end to get behind the lip to pull it out. A stout dental pick will also work.

Tested the upper woofer with a 9v battery and it did the usual movement with voltage applied. Then I got to thinking, which can be dangerous. Meridian says the 5K speaker is a 2.5 design. With that being said does it mean that the lower woofer is operating at a lower frequency than the upper woofer?

2.5 way usually means that the lower bass unit has an additional low pass filter so it doesn't do any mid frequencies.

Probably passive, so if the lower one was working, the upper should also work, unless the driver it self is at fault.

The 9v DC may have unstuck it!

Looks like it did the trick. I will still pursue the purchase of a few spares just in case.

Got caught up for awhile in the Squeezebox world. Now I am back at completing my Meridian Music Theater System. Again I would like to humbly thank those that helped me find the pieces to put the system together. Now that I have had the opportunity to just listen and enjoy the Meridian assemblage. Two questions have come to mind.

1st Question should I be concerned with what firmware version are running on.
a. The DSP5K's
b. The 568.mm
c. The HD621

Interested if any upgrades or final versions are recommend or not for any particular reason.

And a final question on the HD621 CEC/HDMI control. With the 4th generation Apple TV and my previous setup, I was able to select the option to turn my TV on and off with the apple remote. With the HD621 in the path that option is not available. It this even possible or would using some type of HDMI 1in 2 out splitter be an viable option?
