Ian,

You make a good point about checking that the reset has taken place, I'll see if I can check that tonight.

I only started messing about with non-default values because the defaults weren't working for me. ISTR that all those values have been put back, but I'll check.

okay, so it's been a week and I've not managed to test those slave speakers yet. I'll try and do it this weekend.

What I did do however was remove the older teac system connected to my computer and replace it with the 568 and 3xdsp33's all configured in a line nicely and it was sounding pretty good.

then tonight the 568 will no-longer power on! I see there are 2 fuses in a little tray by the power socket, and if my little understanding of a multimeter is right, then I think one is broken. I can't see the break, but it doesn't seem to be showing continuity. I guess I'll be visiting maplins tomorrow... would they have the right thing?

Not sure why it would have blown a fuse mind..

Panic over.. a search of this very forum reveals that of the 2 fuses, one's a spare! swapped them round and it all works again...

I'll still wander into marlins tmw to replace the spare but I feel better now.

The question that springs to mind is why did the fuse blow?

It may be that it was a mechanical failure, rather than electrical one; you just moved it and the fuse visibly looks okay, so it may have come loose internally,

well, it had sat there working for a couple of days. I didn't move it and it failed...

Not sure why it failed. it's sharing the same multiple as the speakers and my computer and they all seem fine... dunno...

Do you think someone is looking down on you saying "David, you really need to just go and buy yourself a pair of DSP7200 SE's."??? laugh

I wonder if one of your DSPs has a short in the comms socket, which is causing issues?

Can you take the back panel off and check?

Well, I am kinda thinking of redoing the lounge hifi with floor standing speakers which might allow me to do without a sub. I mean, the 7200se's would fit that bill..... smile

Umm.. not sure I'd know what to look for tbh.

A single fuse could be a coincidence.. if it happens again though...

David,

I would just check that there is nothing obvious on the back side of the comms port, having said that the voltages are so tiny I doubt it could blow the 568.
The back panel unscrews and the whole thing comes off and you can see the board and all the connectors etc.

It's dead easy.
