@LeeRankin
I've had Etymotic ER-4PT's & S's for years & there are two brand new XR & SR versions that have been recently released on the Etymotic website for $350.
You can probably get them for a little less if you shop around....

They're (allegedly) the absolute reference in terms of accuracy & I use them with Explorer2 / iPod+Oppo HA-2 all the time, as well as for flights, due to their exceptional isolation.

Fiddler, HE1000V 1 & 2 are very different load compared to the Edition X V2 which just soars on every headphone amp with their 103dB sensitivity.

With HE1K you go down greatly in sensitivity and now you will need Powerr.

You will gain other rewards for it, but iPhone 7 / Explorer 2 and maybe even your favorite Mojo may not have the grunt to make the HE1K soar..

I agree it may be a problem and I carefully considered that and looked at dozens of comments and most say it will drive it fine, but you won't get all that it has to give. While others said it has more than enough power.

Here is a good explanation, at least on paper it "sounds" good smile

Explaining power into headphones

Another calculation of driving HE1000

Mojo seems to drive HE1000 fine, I'm running between 8-12 on a scale of 0-15.

Hi Lee
I would go with the Shure SE535 or the SE215

The 215 offers a big leap in performance over similar priced EP\s and certainly over the ones supplied with phones........the 3's and 4's are nice, but incremental upgrades.......while the 5's offers another big leap........all are easily driven and match well with the Explorer 2

The Sennheiser IE800 and especially the Shure 846 are also very impressive........but you would need to find these at the right price

The Westone's are also worth a listen.......but I think the Shures match better with the Explorer

Lee,

I am very happy with the Echobox Audio Finder X1 Titanium Earphone. They do well with or without the Explorer2 and come with adjustable filters. I fit them with the Comply tips and they have replaced my Ultimate Ears custom fit IEMs as my go to headset. Well worth researching.

Regards,
Bill

May be someone will deny it but the Explorer 2 is crap.
I had one for a month than it died.
Sound is like your cheap notebook soundcard.
Resonessence Herus beats M Explorer 2 to death.

ZLodei,

Annoyed!

You join this respected forum and ask for advice from veritable members and then denigrate the revered products that many users own in an unacceptable unsubstantiated cavalier manner.

Shameful shocked
