Presumably it exists somewhere, as Atlas make a specific 3.5mm to RCA digital cable. I've never had need of such a connection though. Looks like we will need that lead or a similar one then.
So is this a photo shop error? In the image of the back panel it is clearly not a conventional RCA jack. I had asked if that was the final version and was told yes.

The image in the datasheet shows the inner part of an RCA phono, presumably copied in photoshop. (Probably from one of the other phono sockets if you look) Admittedly it doesn't have the outer surround like the other phonos but I believe the Digital Input socket on the 218 will actually be slightly different to the others (with less surround) and the image has been photoshopped to show a sense of that difference maybe. I presume the image will change to an actual photo of a production unit once it has been manufactured.
Certainly doesn't look like a 3.5mm jack! (like the IR)
Anyway, I can confirm that the Digital Input will be RCA Phono.
Hard to spot the 0.325mm difference in diameter between the centre pin of an RCA plug and the minilack coonections in that picture. The lack of outer surround makes it easy to make the error, though when zoomed up much larger it can clearly be seen that the internal structure does match the other RCA digital connector. Anyway, relief all round. Sorry if I started a panic
