Guys I really appreciate all of the feedback. In consideration of everything stated and to avoid issues real or imagined I am going to just daisy chain the setup.

Sorry No. The COMM communication can run all Daisy Chained or in a "Star" with the 511 Patch Panel.

There are no reflections to be concerned about or length issues becuase it's dog slow, like 4800 Baud. That's why you can run in a Star or Serial.

There is no communications happening unless you are changing sources or volume.

The fact that one speaker changes volume a micro second later than another doesn't matter and doesn't need to be in sync.

If it didn't work, then plugging in an HD621 or what ever you want in second port wouldn't work either. You can plug another component or another speaker chain.

All it does it broadcast, Volume Up, Volume Down, Off and Source (more or less) out both COMM outs. To what ever is hooked to it.

If you really wanted to be nit picky, running two Master Chains would be MORE robust than one longer serial chain or a Star through the 511 Patch Panel. A 511 Star configuration would be more subject to ringing/reflections than running two shorter independent serial chains. And two shorter chains would be more "in sync" than one long chain. But it doesn't matter at the speeds and type of data that goes over those wires.

Only time folks get messed up is when they have multiple controllers, poorly made cables, lose connections etc.

There is no coordination between anything using the old COMM's (new SpeakerLink is different, and two Masters probably would mess things up), it's a SLOW one way broadcast of informing what the Preamp did. It's purposely slow so the cabling is very flexible and cheap.

Progress has been made. FedEx delivers a pair D5k that were purchased from an eBay seller a forum member has offers to sale me a pair of slate cables. This will complete my cable needs. Now I need to secure the fifth D5K to frill the center spot.

Still searching for a 5th D5K to fill in the center position. Won the bid on eBay for a 568.2MM. So the 568.1 is now serving duty in the office.

Thanks everybody for the great leads. What a great community here. Rr

Getting slightly sidelined by the lure of M. In the past five days I have purchased two more processors. One 568.2MM which arrived today and a second 568.1 to go with other systems around the home.

Oh well might as well have some consistency!

I have located a pair of 5000.2 speakers. Although I like the appearance of the non smiley versions better. Is there any sonic difference between the smiley and non smiley 24/96 versions?

Ok so my final pair of D5Ks arrived yesterday. So now I am looking for experienced HH that may be able to provide some suggestions on intitial subwoofer settings. I have a pair of Rythmik EP15 subs with XLR input. I am not committed to using both but I am somewhat OCD on symmetry. They can be daisy chained together if desired. So please post any suggestions for crossover settings?

Also the seller of the 568.2MM suggested in his advertisement that it is possible to use the XLR outputs of the processor to connect to the subwoofers. Is this correct as I did not see any reference to that option in the users manual?

On a lot of M kit the analogue and digital outputs are both "hot".

If so with the 568 then if you set the left and right speakers to large in config then the bass will be transmitted on the XLR outputs as well as the digital outputs. Issue with this is how do you at the same time dial down the bass on the DSPs that are getting the same signal.

There are dedicated left and right unbalanced sub outputs that might give you a better surround experience if you used them.

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

I guess I was somehow thinking there might have been a way to reassign the balanced outputs as dedicated sub out. Thanks for the clarification.

I could not get any sound from the 18 bit rears with 24 bits in the front. Once I placed a 24 bit unit in the rear sound appeared.

Mod. edit discussion on this specific subject is contained in this Mixing 18bit rears and 24bit fronts 5k with 568.2 topic.
