Oh no not the comma thing, almost as bad as the apostrophe'
Apologies as the post was in the key of H and I quite like upside down butterflies. smirk

You'd think so, except that he is still selling MQA as far as I can see. So much for principles.

As someone else noted, the loss of download sales with the advent of MQA streaming probably irked him more than anything else.

Yes + 1, that was the only logical conclusion I could come to.

There are still some folks out there who would like to own the music via download rather than rely on currently non profit making streaming services.

His dilemma

Here's the reply I received from them:

Quote
We decided not to offer and support MQA any longer. We will taken MQA out of the shop by 01.03. We already taken down the MQA icon and search. We don’t agree with the product strategy and quality level.

Why don’t you buy the original and native FLAC master?
Untouched by an algorithm and filter manipulating the original source?

Ah! The proof of the pudding.

I can now delete the HRA Manager App and my link to HRA web site.

Bit of a shame really, that they are taking the ball home.

Throwing his toys out of the pram might make them best buddies with some folks with anti-MQA agendas and opinions. However, if you think about the engineers and technicians at labels like 2L, who have extensively reviewed and analysed the technical details and implementations of MQA, and gone on record about their findings, such actions are surely very counter productive.

If I were such a label and wanted to see MQA succeed as a vehicle for greater distribution of my catalogue (as both a streamed and download format), then I might think twice about making any of my catalogue in any format available to such on-line merchants who make such ill-informed claims.

Bizarrely, it was ONLY because of MQA that I ever shopped with HRA. Looks like I am not alone there. Guess what......

Yep. Guess what... that was the only reason I purchased from HRA.

HRA King Canute comes to mind, the Tidal flow is now Universally unstoppable!

Please don’t tempt fate – I’ve still got 2 months to go on my 6-month upfront Tidal subscription. wink
