Thank you for the initiative. Please also count me in, provided I can coordinate with a UK trip. The Cromwell museum sounds interesting too. Can't wait for series 2 of Wolf Hall.
It's a museum about a different and later Cromwell - Oliver Cromwell, regicide, Roundhead, and self-styled Lord Protector of the Commonwealth (as opposed to Thomas, not king-killer but killed by a king). Easy to mix them up.
Thanks - I had assumed that would be the case. You could have issued a "spoiler alert" for how it ends though!
Cheers, Ian

Thank you all who have responded so far - I am very pleased you feel this is worth a try.
I haven't counted numbers yet and, obviously, we will be incredibly lucky if we find a date that suits everyone, but it certainly looks as if we will have a critical mass.
I would like to stress that I did not conceive this as an opportunity simply to have a go at Meridian. Rather, in my view, it should be a constructive attempt to arrive at a considered, thoughtful and well argued wish list (of whatever content) of what the group would like Meridian to bring to market or otherwise make available.
Since the group are manifestly very well informed owners (or even past owners) of Meridian equipment, who have shown through their purchases the most concrete form of commitment a company could wish for, one would like to think it would be of particular value.
Furthermore, the participants demonstrate through contributions to the forum and a willingness to get together at their own expense that they would like to be able to continue making that commitment to the company if Meridian will provide the products that will make that an attractive proposition.
It would be really good if Meridian would like to join us in some way, but it should not be essential and we would not, I think, want to come across as some sort of threat or activist lobby group. If nothing else, the gathering should be some fun in meeting kindred spirits, even without Meridian.
With this in mind, if there is a consensus on this point (please comment) I propose that I approach Meridian and see whether they would indeed like to meet with us on the day in a manner of their choosing. I say this because, if they do, it is likely that their availability will set the timing of our get-together as much as anything else.
By the way, there is little magic in the number of 20 participants - it is just a convenient room size and it would be enough people to get a spread of views while being few enough that we might actually reach some cogent conclusions by the end of the day. However, the social aspects are important too.
So, feedback please on my approaching Meridian. I will do it in writing of course.
By the way, can those of you who know things better than I please enlighten me about Richard Hollinshead. The Companies House records show him resigning as a director on 26 January 2017 and then being reappointed the same day (though the filings for each event were a few days apart, which is a bit odd). This might be a routine anniversary except that his original appointment seems to have been 23 April 2015. Someone suggested he could be an interesting invitee. Is he still fully involved in the business?

I agree that the meeting with Meridian (if there is one) should be positive and look to the future. But Meridian should also be invited to establish and maintain effective direct communication with their customers and not simply rely on their dealers. And they should be persuaded that this would have benefits for them.
