Just watch carefully which component you designate as the 'Controller' and which are non-Controllers. In theory you can just set each component to 'Auto' and let the links sort themselves out, but I have always found manual designations better (read your M user guides).

Thanks for your valued input. Do you have any links to said joiners?

2. Center speaker comms output to left slave speaker
3. Left speaker comms output to right speaker comms input

4. Comms 2 connection from 568 to right rear speaker comms input
5. Right rear comms output to left rear speaker comms input.

Or am I better off getting some type of y cable or 511 patch? Hoping if no other component is connected to the second comms on the 568 that I could use that option.

Yes, you can most certainly do that and it will work perfectly fine.

You will have to set the Left Rear as a Second Master and use a "M5" cable to it. You can't use an S5.

Make sure when you are done you still only have one Controller.

All a Master is, is the one that chooses which Input to use based on it's Type. All Slaves always use D1.

Often a Master is also a Controller, the device receiving IR commands. So you want to double check who is controller. It's best to set all Controller states manually to avoid issues and not rely on Auto. Auto might get confuses with 2 Masters. Auto most often default to the Preamp as Controller, which is generally what you want because if a Speaker is Controller it will be limited on the advanced Preamp Functions (like a adjusting Trifield parameters).

If you don't have a 2nd M5 cable for the rear you can run the right Front Slave Comms Out to the Left Rear Comms In. You can use a Slave plus a Custom Female to Female Slave DIN (this is effectively a 2 Port 511 Patch) or make a Custom Cable.

I Go Left Front to Right Front to Center to (Female to Female 1 ft Patch Cable) to Left Rear to Right Rear. With one Master in the system. But I have done what you suggested before but I needed the 2nd Comms port on the Preamp for HD621.

The comms sockets on your 568 are master sockets. It is more reliable to go from the 568 to each component in turn (in sequence) in a single daisy chain which you can, if you wish lead back to the other comms connector on the 568 (for example) but that last step is not really necessary. What can lead to difficulties is if you establish two separate daisy chains each fed from the 568 by two separate Master cables but, sort of, ending nowhere and separately, so to speak. They can get out of sync and give undesirable control effects.

That is absolutely wrong and it will run just as robust and nothing will get out of sync.

All it is, is basic RS-232/488 commands going out in parallel to all speakers. Whether they go out in a Y or Serial does not matter. It's all parallel either way.

Typically sync problems are due to folks having multiple controllers.

I would like to use the center speaker to receive or commands. The 568 is placed off to the side of the room and it is not in the best pace to receive if commands. Only will be using one digital input to system. Thanks for the information that you provided. So much to learn about the M way of doing things.

That will work fine but the advance menu functions will be limited when the Speaker is the controller. Like if you want to try different Presets (Trifield vs Music) going through the speaker won't let you. You'll only have access to Volume, Axis, Treble and Bass (only what the Speaker Understands).

I just had setup a friends system from scratch and had set up the center as controller. And I was just to show him differences in Room Correction Bypass and I thought the remote was broken. Then I forgot about the limitation. For "normal" day to day use. Using Any Speaker for Controller is fine.

Yup that should work as a cheap 2 port 511 Patch Panel. Which is often all you need in a 5.1 setup. 7.1 typically needs 3 ports.

Thanks again Fiddler,

Well I think this may work for me then. I only use the one input and depending on the media type the 568 either plays it in direct mode for stereo and surround for movies. I will surely look at changing the music setting to Trifield. Again thanks for your feedback.

Well, I am glad you feel so confident (Fiddler). In fact, the difficulty with two separate control strings or chains is caused by differing lengths in those chains and the possibility of electromagnetic reflections of the control signals in the two separate chains. Mostly it will work fine, but sometimes it may not. If you can daisy chain the lot you can avoid the ill luck of uncontrolled reflections.
