When I first got my 5200s many years ago, my wife hated them in our sitting room, said it was like having R2-D2 and his mate round every night. laugh

I used the standard B&O SpeakerLink cable and cobbled together an adaptor which led out to two RCA for signal and 3.5mm (?) power socket. Then I used a standard USB-3.5mm cable, previously used between USB mains charger and Beaglebone computer.

A bit Heath Robinson but it worked fine.

All the details are available online somewhere.

Yeah you can make your own easy enough, and if you plan on using a 5v USB supply it's the only option afaik.

If you want to buy them there are 2 options:

Sounds heavenly in U.K. ; works with a plug-in transformer
AV connection in Denmark ; works with a 12v trigger out from a processor etc.

Some years ago, upon seeing my beloved 8ks and 6kC for the first time, my wife's friend asked in all seriousness if they had built in storage.

>sigh<

Carlton9000,

If you are planning on making changes - make sure you have/can get hold of the legacy config program - since it doesn't appear to be currently downloadable.

While I am waiting on a pair of the 5Ks to be delivered I have a question about the comms connection to the 568. Can I connect the comms in the following manner with out issue.

1. Comms 1 connection from 568 to master(center speaker) comms input
2. Center speaker comms output to left slave speaker
3. Left speaker comms output to right speaker comms input

4. Comms 2 connection from 568 to right rear speaker comms input
5. Right rear comms output to left rear speaker comms input.

Or am I better off getting some type of y cable or 511 patch? Hoping if no other component is connected to the second comms on the 568 that I could use that option.

No. 1 and 4 would be master connection which is bad. Not saying it cant be done, but you run a risk of introducing issues which will catch you out at some point.

If you cannot daisy chain, as you mention, use either use a 511 patch or a Y connector in the S-leads.

And please note that you do not need an M patch box. It is a trivial piece of wiring together of DIN sockets in parallel. You would only need one connector to link two 5 pin (male) DIN plugs together and these 'joiners' (two 5 pin female sockets joined together in a single housing) are widely available, at least on line.

Just watch carefully which component you designate as the 'Controller' and which are non-Controllers. In theory you can just set each component to 'Auto' and let the links sort themselves out, but I have always found manual designations better (read your M user guides).

So are you saying that #4 would be a master connection while using a slave comms cable to it. And a master comms cable to #1? I thought there was a difference between S5 and M5 cables.
