As someone who has been to Huntingdon recently, I noticed it was quiet and the car park had many spaces. Are you sure, Bruce, that those impressive resources (electronics and physical design) are still there? I certainly hope so. Allen Boothroyd is still a shareholder but he is even older than me and so, I hope, is enjoying retirement. This might explain the utilitarian design of the 218.

Positive thinking is a wonderful thing, but I do note that according to the accounts published in December 2016 the number of Meridian employees engaged in R&D has dropped in one year from 17 to 11. Of course, some may have been on Sooloos (and gone to Roon) or on MQA. The weasel words around automotive are rather hard to decipher.
