You have to decide for yourself. People buy things for all sorts of reasons and often convince themselves that their decisions are fully justified. Long live human diversity.

With some things, and Meridian kit is one such, I just like to have the latest. I just enjoy owning it. I bought a 568.2mm and Meridian had me spotted with the right sales pitch which I fell for. I felt good about my decision until I then moved on to an 861. Could I really detect the difference in my dedicated 8 seater home cinema? No. Did I mind? Not really - I liked the style, presence and technical elegance of the 861 and so I felt good. Nothing else matters really and we all have different ideas of what makes us feel good.

Actually, as I get older I am more and more enjoying restoring classic old sound equipment, much of which, when restored, still sounds really good - quite good enough for me. This is a welcome development in my psyche as it is much cheaper!
