Yes - I was aware of that. I was reading the statement as a more general example of MQA rather then from the 218. Is it possible to output from the 218 to another MQA DAC and achieve full MQA as suggested?
I have to ask why would you want to do that? Full MQA is available via the analog outputs or to SE speakers via the SpeakerLink outputs. Any other way such as the digital output will not be completely unfolded.
If you are thinking of sending it to yet another DAC for MQA via the digital out, what would be the benefit of that?. Wouldn't you send it to the other MQA DAC in the first place?

I am new to streaming. The system I am considering consists of the 218 between my G68 and analogue amps as you have suggested, and having a MC200 connected to the 218 via SpeakerLink for storage, with an I-phone and I-pad for control of a Sooloos system with a Tidal account. I am hoping to Build an MQA library on the MC200. I'm not overly interested in meta data. Is my plan feasible? I don't have a MC200 at this stage.
Thanks,
Andrew

You should be able to inject it into the SpeakerLink in with a Reviver or AC12. I will confirm this at the Cedia show next week.
Did you manage to confirm whether the unit would respond to RS232 through SpeakerLink?
Also, can the aux digital output be crippled to match the older not 192KHz compatible DSP's?
Additionally - the datasheet on Duncan's site shows vent holes in the top - but claims it is 1U high - can this run with the top covered - or does it need more than 1U space?
I am sure Bruce will be along to answer your questions soon, but I am puzzled why you would buy an MC200 for storage? You could buy the appropriate QNAP NAS and download the free Sooloos app and use that for store and core for less money and as a benefit you would be able to use RAID and the increased storage capacity possible with the QNAP over the current 1TB maximum of the MC200.
For MQA my understanding is that the 218 would have to output over analog to your amps for you to benefit from full MQA decoding, if it was passed from the 218 to the G68 then I think you would lose the MQA benefit? The G68 is not a Sooloos endpoint of course.
By the way if you did have the 218 and MC200 you would connect both to the network, you would not connect them via the SL connections, confusing I know.
You have clarified things for me considerably. I was unaware of the downloadable Sooloos app.
I am planning to have the 218 between my G68 and analogue mono amps. I am hoping then I can connect the QNAP NAS to the 218 for MQA and also to the G68 for other media via the HD621... If this is not possible, I'm thinking that I will require separate storage for the 218 and G68.

MQA songs show up as 24 bit thru Roon. Shortly I did some A/B testing (16 bit file vs. the MQA/Master file), finding the Master file somewhat "richer".
I have no MQA equipment.

Looking at the 218 spec sheet on Duncan's info site it shows the SpeakerLink input as 24/192.
I am curious about this as the SpeakerLink output on an 808v6 shows as 24/88 so why would the 218 need 24/192? Does this suggest there is a new version of SpeakerLink or as I hope that a future firmware update will enable 24/192 on the 808v6 and others, or most disappointingly that it was a typo in the data sheet
A firmware update to enable 24/192 on the ID41 would be good to!

My thanks to a fellow HH for his time in discussing this at length.
