I thought I would give a quick update on this.

Nothing much has happened on the install as I had a last-minute design change on my sound control panels, and ended up getting some made to order panels that should be with me sometime this week.

In the meantime I took the desk apart and experimented with a few things I had been thinking about incorporating.
I'll add pics when it's finished ...

Bruce from CMB Integrations is helping me to not only incorporate Meridian into the recording system part of my room, but to also use Meridian to control basic operating functions of the whole system smile

Next step is to "customize" the DSP5000s ...

Relaxing room 1: Vizio P65, Oppo 203, Emotiva XMC-1, Beolab 5.3 speakers.
And a big headache getting it all to play together.

Relaxing room 2: Beocenter 2, Beolab 2.1 speakers.

Music room: Apogee recording with Nuemann, Dynaudio and Meridian speakers.

I'm just about ready for installing this equipment, but need a little help please.

From the 586 to the 562 ... do I need to run a digital for the DSP5000s, plus an analog so I can use the tape-out to give analog into my recording gear?

I tried to set it up on the desktop last night, but couldn't get anything from the analog tape-out to my desk monitors.

Dont think tape out is active for digital sources without the internal optional 517DAC card or if you have 562v2 or later (which, unlike 517 will not have variable out)

I just looked inside and it has the 517-01 PCB installed !!!

Will this now do what I need ... e.g. ; programmed so when I press CD on MSR+ will send a digital out to 5000s, and pressing DVD will silence 5000s and send an analog fixed signal to my recording gear?

Just curious why are you recording in analog these days?

- Fiddler (IMHO)

If you think listening to music is fun, try learning an instrument.

People do record in Analog today. Think Rega who I know for a fact do. Chris

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

The instruments are analog smile

The recording interface takes analog inputs and converts to digital, and from there on it's digital until it comes back out of the interface to the monitors.

I do have a digital input on the interface, but that's being used to link another box to give me more inputs.

The idea was that I could use the "spare" 586 to sit at my desk and listen to other people's music (as I did Friday night) , but I don't have room for a set of speakers dedicated to this task, and my interface has 3 monitor-outs.

So ... now I need to get the CD player integrated as an "instrument", so I need an analog out into the interface. Then of the 3 analog "monitor" outs, one needs to be converted back to digital to go to the DSP5000.

Apogee recommended their Rosetta analog to digital converter to be installed between their interface monitor outs and the DSP speakers, but thisMmeridian box was cheaper so I thought I'd see if I could get it to work easily wink

AAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaand .....

The desk still isn't finished crazy

This week. Definitely this week ... Or next week ...

I think I've got it worked out now ...

Cables should be here Friday, and I'm hoping it works!

If not, plan B : Go through recording gear just to listen to a CD.
No biggie, but I'd rather not have that many things and conversions in the signal path and have to turn on my power-sucking computer to do this ...

Nearly there !!!!

I know, I'm real slow ...

The Meridian CD and pre is located in the middle of the shelf, but it's hard to get a good photo with the lights on.
