That's the point of how I pitched the question. What album never grows old that you keep coming back to.
We're always looking for new music and enjoy it. Some really sticks and some doesn't.
What album has stuck the most?
It's likely different than your favorite album of the moment.
Lots of albums seem like they could be the best ever, but 6 months later you forget it existed. And if you play it, and it doesn't "come back". While others are as good as the first time. Would you risk your current favorite being your selection for life? Or would you pick something that has proven staying power to your ears?

After selling my whole hifikit (Sony / jamo) which must have been I think around 1983/4 I was able to buy a brand new Philips CD303. I paid over 1000 euro for it and I was a broke but proud teenager. It took me more hard work and several months to buy a CD and that was the 120 guilder (60 €) double CD Pink Floyd The Wall. Imagine having a CD player and a CD and no money and no kit yet to listen to it, (luckily I had a nice weekend job.)
To me The Wall is the best ever album, i still listen to it and my absolute choice for the island!
My classic choice is more difficult but being all alone on that island i would need some soothing and romantic music. Therefor I choose Rimsky-Korsakov Sheherzade performed by the RCO conducted by Chailly and Jaap van Zweden on violin.
Cheers

When the question is put that way, I am considering which album I have played the most on average over the years.
It would be down to 2 choices which are close across vinyl and digital playback, not allowed on the island of course so mabe a playlist blending the two, quite a juxtaposition:
Radiohead -ok computer
Pink floyd - dark side of the moon

Division Bell? Never heard it. I think I only heard The Wall a year or two ago after a stunned response elicited on here once I announced it (ncpl?).
It's funny; we play music all the time (or almost!), but from a pretty small pool (500 CD's?). I buy very few new CD's & am not currently on Tidal or similar. We're about to move the cinema / music room to a new location & I will be installing some cabled broadband & Tidal / Spotify at that point.
Also, I always find it a little surprising / disappointing when Qs like this gather so few responses. I've posted a few Qs of a similar nature & they only drew a modest number of replies too. At time of typing, this thread has had 689 views and yet only 19 responses! Presumably those that open the thread are interested in the subject matter but can't find the time / inclination to post a 2 or 4 or 6 word reply.

The place wasn't quite unscathed but all we had was a few hairline cracks & had a few ornaments rattled off shelves, so we got away very lightly. I think it'd take a Mag 9 'quake to get the 5500s on their sides!
Yes, I have heard those two! For me, Wish You Were Here & Animals are quite a bit better than Dark Side Of The Moon. For me, that one is like Bladerunner; revered by those in the know, but never quite does it for me, despite repeated attempts at giving them a 2nd (& subsequent) chance...
Thanks for the Roon link...
