If you were stuck on a deserted island and had to choose one album (or set) to listen too for the rest of your life what would it be?

For me it would be this.

Portland Collection

Ideally with a fiddle and a dance partner too smile

You can sample them on YouTube if you are curious.

- Fiddler (IMHO)

If you think listening to music is fun, try learning an instrument.

you may be fascinated with the many answers to that question available at the BBC Radio 4 "Desert Island Discs" archive

Funnily enough the BBC ONE show had a feature on Desert Island Discs as it has been running for 75 years.
Material like this is worth the License fee alone.

I'd choose whichever CD was shiniest, all the better to signal any passing ships that might offer hope of rescue.

In this case I would choose S.O.S. by S.O.S.

Hate to bring MQA into yet another topic... Is there any news of MQA on physical media?
This could be used to reduce any reflection reducing smear that could be preventing rescue.

Ideally it would be an album that really requires a number of listens (starting off with the hits) before struggling through the other tracks to appreciate the quality. Eventually the hits seem like the worst tracks and the 8 minute plus track take preference ...

Bowie - Diamond Dogs or Suede Dog Man Star

Cheers
Tom

Classical = Haydn's "Concerto in D for Hunting Horn" with Erich Penzel
Pop = Matthew Good's "Avalanche"
Jazz = Art Blakey's "A Jazz Message"

If you ask again in an hour, I'll give a completely different list other than Avalanche
