It would be great if the analogue input on the 218 was MQA aware (i.e. it sent the ADC profile to SE speakers). Then I could piggy-back it off my AC200 for MQA goodness on both Tidal and LP.

Add a Linear PSU and you get a 3-box solution for the Godot. Better than nothing I guess.

By the time an MQA signal is converted to analogue, then it's not MQA any more - it's a (depending on the DAC) high quality analogue signal that will be at the mercy of the analogue domain capabilities.

Just because a signal is in the analogue domain, it doesn't mean that it's not going to be constrained by the analogue components the signal path passes through.

I cannot see what MQA will do for LP?

Or are you suggesting that the 218 should convert analogue to digital MQA and the MQA encoder be aware of the ADC converter signature.

If so, I think there would be alow of mileage in that for many - I think that's already been speculated on that the 8x8 may already do this for analogue inputs. I suspect if this was true it would be in the marketing blurb as a USP.

I was thinking of the second - that the 218 knows its own ADC's signature and so can pass it on to the decoders.

It seems kind-of obvious to do so...

If I connected a 218 to the my Sooloos system and my speakers to get MQA in 96/24 out of my existing Speakers could I control the volume by pointing my remote towards the master DSP speaker?

I presume that just like a MS200, you could control volume using the iPad Sooloos app.

I don't see why the speakers couldn't be the controller.

Speaking of control. Given that the 218 is designed to be out of sight, will it be controllable so that it is possible to select the output options or is this only going to be achieved through configuration (and all set outputs are always on)?

Cheers
Tom

All outputs are in parallel. Whatever input is chosen is routed to all outputs. All inputs are selectable via IR or IP.

Hi Bruce

That make sense. Can you advise how I might control the input selection if I am using it as a Roon end point? Is there an app?

Thanks
Tom

That is my understanding. We will know for sure once the box is in hand.
