Hello!

I have a pair of M2. Unfortunately, one of them is broken, the rubber is ripped and the bextrane is gone.

So, to fix it, I managed to get 2 in EXCELLENT state. The problem is, they're the SP1057 from LINN ISOBARIKS. The guy assured that it was the 1057.

The current one I have to replace: Photo

The M2 Original:

Second and third Images aren't mine.

P.S. The one I got, is it the SP1057? It's impossible to identify because it's full of gummy stuff (black). However, the Bextrane is applied in both sides...

Should I put both in just one loudspeaker, or one of each in both?

I can't see the detail in your photo. There is a good summary of the differences in Kef B110 drive units here, with some good photos.
A History of Kef Drive Units from the 1960s and 70s

There is a UK manufacturer making B110 drives again:

Falcon Acoustics B110 and T27

I'd check the impedance of the new drive units is 8 ohms (there were 4 ohm variants of the B110) and if they are ok, I'd mount 1 old + 1 new in each enclosure. That way the two speakers will be matched.

It's 8 ohms! I've checked with the multimeter! I did like you said.

Current configuration: 1 original (top); 1 non original (bottom)

It sounds marvelous again!
Thank you!

I believe mine is, in fact, the SP1057 8 ohms, because it's cover up in bextrane (both sides) and it's vinyl! laugh
I'm so happy! laugh

Linn coated the B110Bs with a PVA type substance, apparently for damping reasons.

If nothing else, it would change the Qms and VAS parameters of the drive unit.

I think you've done the best thing with one of each driver per cabinet; if it sounds good then it is good!

All the best,

Stefe
