I completed the change and made the front right speaker the master due to the way the cables were installed.
The CD input still doesn't work. Speaker Calibration still works as before, but not room correction. I specified to only test the front right speaker.
I deleted the subwoofer, center and surround speakers from the configuration (leaving only the pair of 5200 speakers). In the 861 properties tab, I selected the type as "Type 2 All digital, LFE sub". When I downloaded this configuration it resulted in a combination of DSP5200 and DSP5000 speakers in a 7.1 configuration, and a number of sources defined. Is this normal, and is there a way to "reset" the 861 other than setting the type?
When I look at the Type for the full configuration it is set to the name of my configuration file and appears after Type 5. My system has 5 DSP speakers and an analog subwoofer connected with a balanced XLR connection.
I confirmed the firmware version of all of the DSP5200 speakers is ver 1.40 (the latest for non-SL), but noticed that the 861 has ver 8.0 not the latest ver 8.1

Updated the processor to ver 8.1 No change in functionality.
Guessing the problem is hardware related.

Those were good things to try.
I just checked something.
Speaker Calibration interestingly Selects RADIO on the Speakers. At least on a G61RSL it does.
MRC Selects CD.
So MRC and Speaker Calibration are different. If the Speakers are correctly typed it doesn't matter if it's RADIO or CD.
If a Speaker is TYPE 5, RADIO is on D2 and CD is on D1. If a Speaker is TYPE 6, RADIO is on D1 and CD is on D1.
Like I said earlier try moving from D1 to D2 (just as a test for MRC).
Also as I suggested try skipping the front speakers and see if the rears work.
If it is hardware, which I still doubt, try swapping Left and Right Speaker and Retype them accordingly.
A bad cable might cause some weirdness too.

Yesterday I tried to get it to work. The attempt had no positive results.
After trying everything I tried before, I downgraded the unit to Version 3. I put in a AB DSP card, and I changed the jumpers on the CD DSP card for a v3 version.
The unit worked like it should. Builing a configuration file in the legacy program, loading it and the unit worked like it should. Except there was no roomcorrection noise.
I upgraded the unit to v4, retyped it, made a new configuration file, and again no sound with room correction
All cards work, the unit is in pristine condition. There are no card errors at all.
The only thing I can think of is that it is in the software on the laptop. But I have the latest version of the configuration program. So that is just fine, leaving me with the one and only question I can't find an answer to at the moment.
WHERE DOES THE ROOM CORRECTION SOUND COMES FROM?. Is this sound produced by the 861, or is the laptop creating the sound. If the laptop creates the sound then that could be a possible problem.
The laptop works like it should, but what if the laptop can't produce the sound throught the USB port. Then I have to find another laptop to try it.

I tried another laptop and it didn't work.
Is there someone with a configuration file that has an ID40 and has a room correction measurement in it for me? I can then test out if the room correction works that way.
Regards Ronald

I just tested room correction with an active analogue speaker. I get an awfull crackling sound out of the speaker. This is not the sound that has to be played to do a measurement.
When I play music with the 861 through the speaker it sounds like it should be.

I never use Speaker Calibration from MConfig. I just write the values down and put them in MConfig. I still use the "3dB Tweak". I would guess that if I did Speaker Cal from MConfig it probably would use CD as well. You raise a good point, what are folks using when they said Speaker Calibration "works" but MRC does not. If Speaker Cal is being done from MConfig and displays CD on speakers and works but when doing MRC it displays CD and doesn't then that is really bizarre. If Speaker Cal is being done from Front Panel of processor and does NOT display CD (e.g. RADIO) and works but MRC does not work with CD displayed. Then I still suspect it's a setup problem, wrong cable, bad cable or something. Possibly a hardware issue that a Speaker is not getting TYPED correctly.

The speaker calibration I referred to is done through the configuration program.

George, can you try the "speaker calibration" with Mconfig to clear out that point? I will try it from the front panel, but have no experience. How can I make that?
Roland, try it with the front panel and please post both your mconfig sw version, so maybe we find something.
George, I tried out the +3dB trick with my v6 a while ago, but with the v6 I found no sound difference, maybe I will try it again.
