Many thanks all. I have decided to use 'Bruceforce' and get the cables from him. He has been great to work with and super responsive.

You should not use an AC12 in reverse (SPDIF to SpeakerLink) in any application in my opinion.

I'm 99% sure AC12 has attenuation (for going from SpeakerLink to SPDIF), like the adapters I just made.

If you run an AC12 or my adapter in reverse you'll get 0.5V SPDIF in and about 0.17V Out (not good), when it should be 2.0V out.

If you run a transformer only it will be 0.6V out.

I have used (at Meridian's advice/guidance) AC12s in reverse and they worked fine. However, the Comms were not at all straightforward and basically required a legacy M lead to feed comms FROM the legacy unit into the master comms socket on the AC12 and then the SL units were all right (as were slave legacy from the slave socket on the AC12).

Hi Bruce

And of course I have never known a Meridian manual to have any errors.... whistle

It is presented this way in product training as well so no, it was not an error in the manual. I thought this forum was for Meridian fans😃

I'm blind I guess, looked again, and indeed it does show both ways in the manual. I stand corrected.

I guess they must not use any attenuation and just use a transformer only.
