Hi,

You'd only need the AC12 if you have a processor with Speakerlink outputs.

You can plug your sources and speakers into the 568, although I'm not sure what output the Chromecast has (analogue audio?), but the 568 only has one optical input (I think) which you can best use to connect the MS200.

Get a blu-ray with a coax output_ and use that (initially) to a digital input on the 568. Eventually you can add a HD621 and connect the blu-ray player via HDMI.

So, MS200 (optical out) to 568 (optical in), then _ 568 (digital and comms out) to DSP6000.

Brian

With the original Chromecast the TV optical output is used. I do YouTube BBC iplayer and iplayer radio this way.

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I'm still a little confused over connection to a future processor.

But to bring you up to date I now have a pair of DSP5000s, an AC12 and an MS200 and I couldn't be happier. I've also managed to figure out how to output a Chromecast Audio to the second digital input on the speakers. Couldn't be happier.

But, probably being very stupid here, but I've realised I don't know how to connect a future 568.2 - which is away from the listening area - to the speakers. Googling various stuff, I think I need a very long coaxial cable. Is that right? And is there any problem with co-axial over several metres?

Thanks.

Correct on the coax cable, no problem on 20 metre + runs in my experience. Technically you will need a shotgun cable - one strand for digital coax signal, the other for Meridian comms. They are usually supplied with the speakers - one for the Master (from the processor to the Master speaker), the other for the Slave (connection between speakers). There are a few people on this forum that will make up any length you want.

If using very long coaxial cables, use a very high quality low loss cable, well terminated. Belden 1694A with Canare crimp connectors are a classic and very good. Remember that you'll get losses if you bend the cable past its minimum bending radius, so be careful how you lay it/install it.

Thank you, both.

I'm thinking about the connections I need near the speakers (so that all cables can be plugged into a corresponding unit in the wall).

USB x 2 or 3
Ethernet
Co-axial

Any thing else I need to think about for future proofing the next 5 to 10 years?

Hi,

Run conduit in the wall and that will help to future proof. Face plates can be changed as future needs arise.

A used one was sold on here see FS: AC12.

There are others ... Google search the forum for "FS: AC12".
