Hi folks,
In my original post I was trying to illustrate that the M offering is apparently being restructured across the board.
Products may be replaced, made obsolete or their capabilities extended. This has system implications and importantly financial penalties. There have been major technology changes throughout the audio world; notably (but not only) universal adoption of streaming and the invention of MQA.
Unlike Bruce I am pretty much a slave to financial planning and adopting a financially driven bias toward purchases. There is no way that I would make any purchase without first investigating the market and looking for "sea changes". I am a devotee of life cycle costing but freely acknowledge that technology will often catch me out. This makes me very boring but I do spend the savings on the finer things in life.
In summary therefore, there is no way I will consider investing in Meridian equipment until the product line up is more clear. However I am quit hopeful regarding near term events.

Spec sheets are being finalized now and will be available next week. Clearly, Meridian are now able to define what is meant by 'next week'.  It's the gap between September and November.

Can I actually buy one of these today? If so, is it through a dealer? Or is this only available to custom installers?

Will it have Roon compatibility / RAAT? All Meridian end points are Roon compatible, because Roon can talk Sooloos. RAAT is another question entirely. It would make loads of sense to Meridian to allow RAAT as well, just as would make sense to include higher than 96kHz. But as the Ultra doesn't even have either of those, it seems rather unlikely.

For a 'desktop' alternative, I suggest a Prime v.2 - with integral ethernet, and digital out - would be more aesthetically in keeping with existing G Series kit.
