Hi Guys,
I decided to maybe buy a QNAP NAS to replace my deceased TwinStore. Is there a link anywhere with an idiot proof set up guide?
Also any views on a suitable 4 bay model?
Once my QNAP is set up for Sooloos use will I still be able to back up photos etc. without compromising Sooloos?

Yes, backing up photos is no issue. You just need to make sure you put in enough drive space to handle the additional storage requirement.
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Thanks for that, that's reassuring.
If you understand RAID, which flavour would you suggest for mirror image for drives 1 & 2 with 3 & 4 set up for overflow from 1 & 2?

RAID is not a back up. It merely protects you from redundancy.
I back up my important files to a second NAS remotely stored, or I would if my eldest idiot son hadn't switched the router off on his way out last time he was there...
As far as preference for RAID there are far better qualified folks on this forum to talk about their preference and why.
With a four bay NAS I would use RAID 5 with a separate backup. Don't ask me why!

The Sooloos QNAP guide recommends the TS-451 for a 4 bay.
Meridian America sells the TS-453 pre configured hère as a 4 bay.
