Correction. My MC200 is hardwired to the router and my 808 is hardwired to the MC200.

Actually I just type MC200 twice.

Are you saying you have the MC200 connected to the 808 directly. That suggest MC200 SpeakerLink out to 808 SpeakerLink in?

If so then that's really not the right way to hook them up.
The MC200 should just be connected to your LAN.
The 808 via it's ID41 card should be also connected to your LAN.

Then Sooloos will see the 808 as a networked zone and transfer audio data to via the LAN.

The 808's configuration will need to be adjusted to support this using M config. Sooloos input via ID40/ID41 is normally mapped to AUX logical source.

Regards,
Carl

Taking a step back, if I understand correctly, you have your existing Sooloos system, based on the MC200 as core and store and a new Roon system for which the store is USB drive attached to your router.

What runs the core for Roon and how is that connected to your network?

I'm also curious about how the MC200 is/was connected to your 808. As Carl says, ideally you'd have that wired to the same switch (or router, although some say this is less desirable) as your 808. The hypothesis being that an MC200 (or MD600 for that matter) is ultimately a computer, which is a too noisy a device to plug directly into your 808.

Both the MC200 (short run) and the 808 (long run) are connected to my router via Ethernet.

The storage for Roon is connected to my router via USB.

Roon's core is on my MacBook Pro and accesses my network wirelessly. (a laptop wired to a audio system is like fuzzy dice hanging from a Porsche's mirror)
