Maybe you should try this power supply:

60W SMPS

It is physically the same size but is rated a bit higher so should run cooler and hopefully last longer.

Are you sure it's actually the power supply?

I replaced the power supply in a G68 and it 'failed' again after a few months.

On further investigations, it was the metal contacts in the plug that plugs onto the power supply pins, one of the 5v contacts was carbonated and black.

I bought some better quality crimp on contacts, refitted them to the cable, plugged in the 3 month old 'failed' PSU and it's been fine for the last 4 years!

Thanks for that suggestion. I will check it out. I assume it is the contacts on the plug that takes the 12v and 5v feeds from the PS to the rest of the G68?

Hi Paul,

Yes the metal contacts that clip into the white plastic plug housing, which in turn comments to the row of pins on the PSU with 5v, 12v etc.

The contacts on the end of the wire harness from the G68 motherboard.

You can see here, one of the problems with the standard connector pin is that it's only touching 1 side of the PSU pin, you can get pins similar size that are like a box section, they contact on all 4 sides of the PSU pin.

On the second, slightly blurred picture, you can see the blackened contact area.
