What about 861v8 3* SpeakerLink to 3*Ultra DACs? For non MQA materials of course.

Is the ID41 the limiting factor for 96/24?

The ID4x was once described as an Audio NIC. Apart from format decode, it's a relatively trivial task. I cannot see that ID4x tops out at 96/24 hardware capability wise.

My guess, more like Sooloos core and 8xx being the limiting factors.

If the Ultra DAC has improved audio processing capabilities the ID41 may well be able to take advantage of that. No point updating ID41 to USB capabilities in 8xx if Sooloos couldn't take advantage of it and something even bigger coming along with Ultra.

Which leaves Sooloos/Roon capabilities. As yet to be announced, software and/or firmware update could fix that. Which may explain why Meridian are not currently revealing ID41 capabilities.

Probably doesn't fit in this topic, but I was wondering about the other way around... a Meridian Ref MQA'd A to D converter for true analogue inputs eg turntable with pre-digital recordings.

Wouldn't that be the best way to get true analogue out of a Meridian DSP SE system?

That's what, IMO, the 808v6 and 818v3 *should* have, instead of the same unchanged 6x analogue input card. I mean honestly... who has a requirement for adding six *unbalanced* analogue sources to an 8x8; vs. say a turntable XLR input which gets the MQA ADC encapsulation treatment?
