Never seen 3 x upsampling before. I wonder what this means?

Usually it's 1x, 2x, 4x and 8x.

Is there a spec sheet somewhere?

It upsamples to max 768kHz. As does the 8kSE.

I guess this refers to the filter tap number (filter length in time).

I see the "HD621 SL" comment there. Presumably the person in marketing who wrote that doesn't know the difference between MMHR and SL. <facepalm>

Also note that on the backplate the SpeakerLink input connection is labelled SL1 "disc".

I assumed the SL input was for an 8xx CD player.

Certainly sounds interesting and being M, I'm sure it'll be utterly brilliant.
Couldn't help but notice that it doesn't include MRC.

I also wonder why M have called it the Ultra DAC. After all, it's similar to the 818 in capabilities. Maybe the market prefers and better understands the title DAC, as against streamer.

It's called Ultra DAC because that's what it is. No digital output. I look forward to the lower costs MQA solutions for the majority of us. Chris 😊

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

The best way to decode enigmatic MQA?

Only in as much as they can both operate as 2-channel DACs. Otherwise they do seem to be entirely different machines.

As far as I understand, the Ultra architecture is 8x (352kHz/384kHz) or more, whereas the 818v3 architecture is 4x (176kHz/192kHz).

And having a separate clock card is quite a significant difference too, along with dual mono.

There certainly are lot of differences but how many of them matter for DSP users?
